Isco reveals why Sergio Ramos smells his feet after he scores

We’re all for unique celebrations here at Dream Team.

There’s nothing worse than a generic, uninspired fist pump followed by a group hug.

While we’re all for innovation and experimentation, we’re not entirely convinced with Sergio Ramos and Isco’s new post-goal routine.

What’s going on here then?AFP or licensors

Initially it looked as if Real Madrid’s skipper simply kissed his team-mate’s boot — a classic celebration.

But upon closer inspection, it’s clear that Ramos smells Isco’s foot in the aftermath of a goal.

Fortunately, Isco has provided the much-needed explanation.

“We have a joke between Sergio and me,” he told Marca.

“We say that our feet smell, so when one of us scores we celebrate in that way.”

Whose feet smell worse?REUTERS

Simply as that then.

Isco has made a name for himself in the world of celebrations in recent times.

The celebration below means ‘I love you’ in sign language and the Spanish playmaker does it at the request of a young deaf fan…

This came from… This. Good lad!

Earlier this month, it was reported that Isco annoyed Cristiano Ronaldo when he didn’t immediately run over to acknowledge the Portuguese superstar’s assist after his goal against Las Palmas.

Which may be why he’s now playing it safe with good old-fashioned feet-sniffing.

Liverpool fans felt Mohamed Salah wasn’t clinical enough at the start of the season.

Well now the Egyptian winger is the top scorer in the Premier League and has more goals than Lionel Messi and Neymar this season.

Not bad.

Salah was at it again on Wednesday night, coming off the bench to score twice as Liverpool comfortably saw off Stoke 3-0.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring in the first half before Salah scored a quick fire brace to make sure of all three points for the Reds.

But Liverpool supporters held special praise for a man who didn’t find the net.

Roberto Firmino’s unselfishness is one of his main and most endearing attributes, and the Brazilian displayed that quality again for Mane’s goal.

With Mane’s delicate chip only tricking over the line, Firmino had the opportunity to steal the goal himself – but instead stopped to allow his team-mate to score instead.

Sums up Firmino that he just stood and watched ManΓ©'s shot bounce over the line, even though he was in position to score it. Most strikers would probably tap that in and claim the goal.

How many games did Juventus lose when there were relegated to the second division in 2006?

It was the ultimate David v Goliath story.

Juventus, winners of 29 top flight championships, mixing it with AliboLeffe, Triestina and Spezia in the Italian second division.

The Old Lady spent the 2006/07 season in Serie B following the Calciopoli scandal.

Relegation from Serie A saw Fabio Cannavaro, Lilian Thuram, Gianluca Zambrotta, Adrian Mutu, Patrick Vieira and Zlatan Ibrahimovic take flight.

But Gianluigi Buffon, Giorgio Chiellini, Alessandro Del Piero, Pavel Nedved, Mauro Camoranesi and David Trezeguet remained to try and guide Juventus back up to Serie A at the first attempt.

Surely, with that crop of world-class stars, they sailed through the season unbeaten? Not quite.

A real change of scenery

Mantova 1-0 Juventus, 13 January 2007

Didier Deschamps’ side eased their way into second division life by going 17 games unbeaten. No surprises there then.

By the 18th game, against Mantova, Del Piero had taken to trying to score bicycle kicks from outside the box.

But Juventus would leave Lombardy with bloody noses.

Robert Kovac, a player with Bayern Munich and a half-century of caps for Croatia on his footballing CV, put the ball in his own net to self-inflict a first Serie B loss on Juventus.

Brescia 3-1 Juventus, 10 March 2007

Following the loss to Mantova Juventus went on a seven-match run unbeaten run, spearheaded by nine Del Piero goals.

But then they got Serafini’d. By that we mean Matteo Serafini scored a hat-trick, against the great Gigi Buffon, to help Brescia beat Juventus 3-1.

We’d even go as far to say it’s one of the best hat-trick we’ve ever seen.

Bari 1-0 Juventus, 3 June 2007

By June Juventus had been promoted and lost their manager, with Deschamps stepping down after falling out with the board.

Giancarlo Corradini stepped in, with just two games left in the season. What could go wrong?

Bari won a feisty battle in the penultimate game of the season, as Davide Carrus scored the winner.

Last minute fireworks sparked when Nicola Legrottaglie was sent off for Juventus only for Massimo Ganci to miss the resulting penalty.

Lovely kit that

Juventus 2-3- Spezia, 10 June 2007

The last game of the season. A time for joy and celebration.

But no one told Spezia, who stunned Turin and became the only team to beat Juventus at home that season.

Juventus finished the season with four losses to their name. Under normal circumstances that would have been impressive, but the 2006/07 season was anything but normal.

The Man United striker seemed to freeze with a chance to score his easiest goal of the season.

The Belgian couldn’t get the ball out of his feet for what seemed like an eternity when all he had to do was poke to the ball into the gaping net.

He delayed the most simple finish which allowed Watford defenders to get back on the line and when he finally got a shot away it was easily blocked.

The figure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the subs bench grew by about three feet as Lukaku missed.

Would Ibra have scored that?

Seeing as he has ice in his veins and the heart of a lion, it’s a resounding yes.

What Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez allegedly said to linesman after shocking disallowed goal

On Sunday, Lionel Messi was denied a clear goal by a dreadful refereeing decision when his shot against Valencia blatantly crossed the line.

Yep, that’s well over

Messi’s shot was spilled by Valencia goalkeeper Neto, who desperately tried to claw the ball away – but cameras showed it was too late.

Only the officials failed to spot the clear daylight between the ball and the goal line, ultimately costing Barca victory as the top of the table clash finished 1-1.

Messi and Luis Suarez were understandably incensed by the decision, berating the linesman for such an obvious mistake.

Lionel Messi was left furious after having a perfectly-good goal ruled outMessi couldn’t believe the decisionReuters

And La Liga subtitles believe they’ve picked up what the duo said.

Messi, after throwing his arms up in the air in disbelief, was desperate to extend communication with the official, allegedly asking if they could talk.

He then tried to reiterate his point, pointing to where the linesman should have been to see the call.

Suarez was much stronger with his response though.

The Uruguayan striker shouted at the linesman, reportedly calling him a ‘bottler’ and ‘midget s***.’

Yikes.

The draw preserved both sides’ unbeaten starts to La Liga this season, but Barca will know it could and should have been a lot better.

Philippe Coutinho v Eden Hazard – who won the battle on Saturday?

As a Liverpool fan I’ll be gutted when Philippe Coutinho eventually leaves for Barcelona.

The brilliant Brazilian has captured the hearts and minds of Reds supporters all over the world with some dazzling displays in recent years.

But for once it wasn’t Coutinho who left me purring on Saturday.

Reuters Coutinho has been Liverpool’s best player since Luis Suarez left[/caption]

Liverpool’s entertaining draw with Chelsea was really only about one man, despite the best efforts of Mohamed Salah against his former club.

Eden Hazard terrorised and toyed with a shaky Liverpool defence for the full 90 minutes, only to be let down a number of times by his inferior team-mates.

The Belgian is back to his blistering best now after a season curtailed by the broken ankle he suffered in the summer.

EPA Hazard was brilliant at Anfield[/caption]

And that’s a daunting prospect for defences across Europe.

Hazard’s international compatriot Kevin De Bruyne has deservedly taken most of the plaudits this season, with many tipping him for the major PFA Player of the Year gong come May.

But no player comes close to the clutch Hazard can switch on at any moment.

Hazard’s record in the bigger games also speaks for itself.

Reuters The only way to stop him[/caption]

In the last 18 months he’s scored against Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea.

If Liverpool can reject a £120m plus bid from Barcelona for Coutinho, I dread to think what Chelsea could turn down for Hazard.

On Saturday only one of the two creative geniuses on show came to the fore while the other was marshalled out of the game.

Reuters Hazard outshone Coutinho on Saturday[/caption]

Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane still hold an interest and the winger has consistently fluttered his eyelashes at the European champions in recent seasons.

And on the weekend’s evidence, Real are going after the right man.
