Usain Bolt is following in the footsteps of Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldinho

It’s what we’ve all been waiting for.

Ever since we saw those videos of Usain Bolt training with Borussia Dortmund, we’ve been desperate to see if the fastest man in the world can actually play football.

Well in June you will see Bolt take to the Old Trafford pitch with a galaxy of footballing legends.

That’s right, the 100m world record holder has hung up his running spikes and is going to be pulling on a pair of Pumas to light up Old Trafford.

Bolt will appear in the Soccer Aid for Unicef charity match on June 10 in a game of England v Soccer Aid World XI.

He will captain the world XI against an England side led by Robbie Williams, to be honest I can’t wait to see Robbie trying to catch him in a foot race.

This match has previously featured seen the likes of Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and Ronaldinho all kit up for the good cause.

Soccer Aid has said that some of ‘football’s biggest legends’ are set to join the Olympic sprinter and popstar for the match.

In other ground breaking Usain Bolt and football related news this week a South African side, Mamelodi Sundowns, hinted they had signed the sprinter on an official deal.

However, back at Old Trafford Bolt says this game is the first step in him becoming a professional footballer.

“It is my dream to make it as a professional footballer, so to be able to step out onto the pitch at Old Trafford in June, and play against some of football’s biggest legends is going to be remarkable,” the 31-year-old said.

“I enjoy the thrill of competition in front of a crowd, so Robbie and his England team better watch out as I won’t be going easy on them. I’ve got a pretty special celebration planned for when I score.

“My team is going to be unbeatable – and Soccer Aid for Unicef is counting on your support to make a difference to thousands of children around the world.”

Report Names Former Rival as Potential Destination for Gareth Bale as Real Exit Looms
Gareth Bale's potential exit from Real Madrid in the summer is once again making headlines, but recent reports have named Arsenal as a potential destination. The former-Tottenham forward, who supported Arsenal as a child, has reportedly been pushed towards the exit door at Real after seemingly failing to live up to his huge expectations after his then-world record move in 2013. The Independent reports that the Gunners could be a potential destination in comparison to other Premier League...

Liverpool v West Ham Match Preview: Classic Encounter, Key Battle, Team News & More
More Liverpool will be hoping to distance themselves from a reasonably worrying theme so far this season, which has seen them fall at a number of hurdles following euphoric victories, when they welcome West Ham United to Anfield on Saturday.  In the immediate fixture after wins over Arsenal and Manchester City, and their 7-0 thrashing of Maribor, Jurgen Klopp's outfit came unstuck against the Citizens, Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, as well as being dumped out of the FA Cup by...

Sevilla 0-0 Manchester United: De Gea Saves Mourinho's Gameplan as Red Devils Take Clean Sheet
Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United bus rolled into Seville on Wednesday night as the Red Devils held Vincenzo Montella's men to a bore draw.  Despite having plenty of the ball, and dominating the match stats over 90 minutes with over 25 shots, Sevilla failed to make the most of their home advantage, and were frustratingly forced into the return leg at Old Trafford with the aggregate score goalless. Sevilla came into the game most likely unaware that Ray Wilkins had likened them to a...

Lewis Dunk produces tackle of the season to deny Charlie Adam tap in

Dream Team FC
Lewis Dunk produces tackle of the season to deny Charlie Adam tap in

There’s an awful lot of fuss about Lewis Dunk at the moment.

Chris Hughton has established a stoic and organised Brighton defence during their first Premier League campaign, with Dunk their leader at the back.

CLAIM YOUR FREE £20 BET Sun Bets have this brilliant offer when you sign up and bet a fiver

Reuters Dunk is Brighton’s go-to man[/caption]

And the centre-back underlined his importance to the Seagulls with a superhuman tackle against Stoke on Saturday.

With the game finely poised at 1-1 heading into injury time, the Potters were handed a chance to grab all three points with a last-gasp penalty.

Charlie Adam’s spotkick was saved by Matty Ryan but it looked for all the world like the Scottish midfielder would tap in the rebound unguarded.

Dunk had other ideas though:

Adam steps up Dunk has race on to get there Look behind you, Charlie The ball squirms away for a corner after Dunk’s tackle

The Brighton captain, despite Adam having a six-yard head start, somehow caught up with his opponent and stuck out a leg to divert the ball wide.

It has to be said Adam’s role in the incident wasn’t great, with the six-yard box made to look like treacle as he prepared to tap the ball home.

But Dunk’s intervention could prove absolutely pivotal to Brighton come the end of the season.

PA:Press Association Last ditch[/caption]

A defeat would have put Stoke, who remain in the relegation zone, level on points with the Seagulls but instead the visitors now have a three-point cushion to the bottom three.

If they were to go down you can put your house on Dunk not being there next season…

World Cup Countdown: 20 Weeks to Go - 'Victory or Death!' Argentina & Uruguay's Classic Final
inal “Argentina yes! Uruguay no! Victory or death!" The first ever World Cup final set a standard for hostility and hatred which has remained unrivalled in the 88 years since. The world demanded it, the police dreaded it, but as the tournament wore on it became apparent that two teams stood head and shoulders above the rest. They were the hosts and favourites Uruguay, and their arch-rivals Argentina. Some details of the game have faded over time, but history remembers a ferocious, entertaining...
