Jose Mourinho torn to shreds for ‘ruining’ Man United’s Champions League hopes

Man United are officially out of the Champions League.

Nobody thought we’d be saying that after the last 16 draw was made in December and Sevilla’s name was produced.

But that’s the reality – and their fans are holding one man and one man only responsible.

Jose Mourinho.

United were really impressive in their 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday, with Marcus Rashford brilliant in his match-winning two-goal performance.

Rashford had Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dejan Lovren on toast every time he faced them from the United left.

So when the United youngster started from the right against Sevilla, with Alexis Sanchez on the left instead, more than a few eyebrows were raised.

Unsurprisingly Rashford was nowhere near as effective and Sanchez continuously gave the ball away to the irk of the Old Trafford faithful.

In fact, the Manchester giants were truly awful and completely deserved to bow out.

And United fans on social media’s despair intensified when substitute Wissam Ben Yedder – as we predicted earlier – struck a dagger to their hearts with two late goals.

Many simply asked… why the hell change a winning formula that worked so well against Liverpool at the weekend?

Mourinho quickly became public enemy number one:

This is down to Jose Mourinho’s selection and decision from the outset.

Jose Mourinho has a perfectly working pair of eyes just like the rest of us..

He sees what Rashford offers us from the left

Come the next game he will start Alexis out there again…why???

Rashford at least looked dangerous again on the left but Mourinho had him on the right. Smart!

The blame sits entirely at Jose Mourinho's doorstep for this 2-0 scoreline after 165 minutes. Just 3 shots on target, it's the tactical choices that have set up Manchester United for failure.

Sanchez has been awful ever since signing for us to ice it off Mourinho is trying so hard for him to fit in the team if we not careful we might lose Rashford or Martial in the summer, the most exciting young talents in Europe #MUFC

Done for the season. Mourinho should be ashamed of himself.

Laughably bad. All on Mourinho this. Big questions need to be asked after season end

Louis van Gaal had to win the FA Cup to save his United job a few seasons ago, so will Mourinho have to do the same with no other silverware on the line?
